As promised, here is my new monthly blog feature summarising the events of each month and sharing blog roundups.
Birthday
January is always a special month for me because it is the month I was born and the time to celebrate my birthday. This year I turned 25 years old. I didn’t do anything special but had the best friend visit and had a trip to the cinema. The greatest thing to come for my birthday was my Mum buying me a new pet rabbit.
He is a small white and ginger 3 month old who I have named Dusty. He is extremely cute, an eating machine and a bit of a dare devil.
Books
For my new years resolution, I decided to read more classic literature. I began by reading Emma by Jane Austen. To be honest it was a slow read and hard to follow which character was who on audio.
Podcasts
I usually don’t listen to many podcats but this month I came across two interesting ones. The first is called Paul Mckenna’s Positivity Podcast hosted by Paul McKenna. He interviews various famous people about their careers and how they stay positive. Celebrities interviewed so far include Simon Cowell, Warwick Davis and Gary Lineker.
The second podcast is While Disabled hosted by fellow blogger Simon Samson. Each week he interviews different disabled people. The first episode is an interview with comedian Rosie Jones.
Cinema
I actually had two trips to the cinema this month; the first was to see Stan & Olly, a film based on the story of performers Laural & Hardy. It was both emotional and funny. The second trip to the cinema I was hoping to see Mary Poppins Returns but unfortunately both disabled seats were already taken by wheelchair users. This shows that they should have more disabled seats available in all screens. I hope to try see it next week instead.
TV
My favourite thing I have watched on the box this month has to be the Netflix Original series You. It is a 10 part thriller that follows Joe, a stalker who stalks a young woman’s life in search of love.
Donations
As many of you will know, I was running a blog donations feature last year. In December 2018, we raised £30 for the disability charity Scope.
This year I would love to continue to receive donations to support my blog. However, instead of donating 20% every month to different charities, I will compile all donations from throughout the year and give a Christmas donation to one deserving charity in December 2019.
