My summary of August 2019

Augusr

This month has basically been filled with work, work and more work – with the odd Netflix binge and some sleep added in for good measure.

Disability Horizons

I’ve continued my news articles for Disability Horizons and recently published my review of the accessible caravan in Norfolk.

All my Disability Horizons content is now available to view in one place on the Emma Purcell Author’s page. This link can also be accessed on the “Disability Horizons” button on the menu page on the left of this site.

My featured content, product articles and sponsored posts for Disability Horizons can be viewed in my Journo Portfolio.

AccessAble

I attended two meetings with local councils for AccessAble and published a blog post about the benefits of access guides for wheelchair users with sight loss.

I also have some additional AccessAble news – I’ve secured meetings for October with East Hampshire District Council, Havant Borough Council and Fareham Borough Council.

Music

I regret to say this but I did not manage to attend a music festival this summer and have still not had a chance to book any gigs for the next few months. However, it is definitely on my to-do list.

Films

I got to see the action remake of The Lion King at the cinema. Due to my poor vision, I struggled to enjoy the visual elements, but the story, comedy and music were still fun.

TV

I finished watching the final series of Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I felt it was a rather bittersweet ending to be honest.

I’ve also begun re-watching series 1 & 2 of 13 Reasons Why before starting series 3, which arrived on Netflix last week.

Donations

Also, I thought I should give an update how much blog donations have been given this year. So far, we’ve raised £175 with 20% going to a worthy cause.

Initially I was going to save all the money until the end of the year then donate 20% to a charity in December.

However, when I came across Fi Anderson’s crowdfunding page for a new specialist wheelchair, I wanted to make an immediate donation. I gave 20% of the blog donations plus an additional £5 personal donation. I’m eager to contribute more so please continue to give donations.

Blog Schedule Changes

Due to my workload mounting up, I’ve made the decision to step back on blogging twice a week. Find out more details on my blog post Blog Schedule Changes.
