Music Interview: SUE

If you’re looking for loud, noisy, heavy and thumping rock music, then say hello to Birmingham based band, SUE:

Band Name: SUE

Members: Elliot Stone (Vocals/Guitar), Ashley Lavelle (Guitar/Vocals), Harry Woodman (Bass) & Euan Woodman (Drums/Vocals)

Genre: Noise Rock

Founded: September 2016

Originated From: Birmingham, UK

Discography: Melting (EP, 2018), Not Your Kind (Single, 2019), Gotta Gotta Gotta (Single, 2019) & It Will Never End (Album, 2019).

1. How would you describe your music?

Imagine the musical equivalent of an elephant fighting to the death with a pack of hyenas. That get’s pretty close.

2. How did the band form?

I (Elliot here) started the band in September 2016, making terrible demos in my Dad’s music room. After a couple months I wanted to get a band together, I’d known Ashley from a previous project so he was the first guy on board. After a year of line up changes Euan and Harry settled into their roles in 2018.

3. Who influenced you within the music industry?

No one in particular to be honest with you, I have bands that I like (Metz, Nirvana, Leathermouth, Fugazi, Pissed Jeans, Daughters, Iceage) but they are all part of the underground as apposed to the mainstream.

4. Have you performed live much and what was your favourite gig to play at?

Yeah we’ve done quite a few shows over the past year, our favourite was supporting Pretty Vicious back in December. The crowd was wild, it was amazing.

5. What is the best thing about being in a band?

Playing live I reckon. Being up on stage performing your own material is great and when the audience gets it, it’s even better.

6. What plans have you got coming up in the coming year?

Trying to get some more shows and some more exposure for the band.
