The Spokz People Wellbeing Community and Programme is a mental health platform for disabled people and those with health conditions and their families. It is offering a FREE 30-day/one-month trial, in which you can finf out what support is available and how it can help you.
Spokz People’s online resource includes information and tool kits on how to improve self-esteem and manage the many challenging situations being disabled brings. It also enables you to work with a peer to improve your mental health and wellbeing.
It has a forum, a chat room, regular live events and Q&As and videos from disabled people, including Alex Brooker, Simon Minty and Martyn Sibley.
You can find out full details on how Spokz People can support you on the Disability Horizons mental health support page.
The value of peer support when you are disabled
I’ve been a member of the Spokz People community since it launched in November 2021. When I first found out about the wellbeing programme, I immediately knew I wanted to join. The fact that it is specifically designed for disabled people, can be fully accessed online and can be worked through at your own pace, means it is the perfect tool for me to manage my mental health.
I particularly enjoy our weekly group sessions on Zoom, where we can share each other’s stories and advise each other on different issues. Plus, it feels very sociable and we have great laughs together.
I love watching the contributor videos as well – which include Alex Brooker, Simon Minty and Martyn Sibley – and learning about people’s experiences and how they live with their different disabilities and impairments.
Also, throughout the online course and during our group sessions, I like discovering and being suggested websites, blogs, videos podcasts and books relating to disability and wellbeing.
Overall, I believe the Spokz People programme has extremely useful resources, amazing support and engaging videos, activities and events. Definitely worth the money!

Become a member of the Spokz People community
Although Spokz People is a not-for-profit organisation and the lottery has funded the set-up of the platform, there are ongoing costs to run the service – around £10,000 a year. Therefore, there is a fee to sign up for the wellbeing community and programme.
However, thanks to a further Lottery Community Fund grant, Spokz People is able to offer a year’s membership for just £50 or £5 a month. You can also get a FREE 30-day/one-month trial to see how it can help you.
Spokz People know finances are tight for many of us right now and you may be unsure what you are getting when you become a member.
If this is you, to help you decide, you can trial its service for 30 days/one-month FREE! Select the Register Here To Pay Monthly or Register Here To Pay Annually button and sign up.
This offer is only open to those who are self-funding. You enter your card details in the registration and after the trial month, you automatically go onto either the monthly £5 or £50 annual membership, depending on what button you select.
Don’t worry though, you can cancel your trial or membership at any time. Go to Members, then select Your Subscription from the dropdown and you can cancel there.
Spokz People Disability Open Evening Q&A
Want to find out more about how the membership can help your wellbeing and mental health? Join Spokz People at its virtual open evening on Monday 13th February at 7.30pm.
It’s an opportunity for anyone to have a tour of the member area and ask any questions about the community and wellbeing programme and using the platform.
If you have any friends who you think might be interested in being a member but are unsure about signing up, please feel free to invite them.
You can register to the Open Evening Q&A via Eventbrite. If you can’t attend this event, Spokz People will host more open evening events in the future. Follow Spokz People on Facebook and Twitter to get updates on upcoming events.
