Music Interview: A Moments Notice

A Moments Notice

On the penultimate day of our two-week mammoth Music Interview Marathon, we speak to vocalist Greg Molina from the band A Moments Notice, a newly launched metalcore group that creates energetic and catchy music.

Band Name: A Moments Notice
Members: Greg Molina (vocals) & co.
Genre: Metalcore
Founded: October 2021
Originated From: Sacramento, California, USA
Discography: Silver Lining & Endless Waltz

How would you describe your music?

I would say our music is pretty diverse, over time the band has been around and gone through phases. October the project was created by myself with Nick Miller of A Skylit Drives help. The band progressively get harder over time. The music is impactful and full of energy, easy to listen to and catches your attention.

What is your musical creative process like?

As a band, I would say the best way to explain our process is we sit at our home studio with myself and Jonny (our guitarist) and start working with riffs being recorded. We play around with ideas and the vibe we want for each song and we start structuring songs from the chorus out giving it that impact.

How did the band form?

In October 2021, I was hit up by Jared the original vocalist of Suffokate, he was talking to me about my vocals and I told him I had been doing vocal covers and he recommended I go to Nick and write music.

I had no intentions of creating a band but after I got two songs out members easily were found with people genuinely interested in being in the band. The band officially left a solo internet project for a full-time band in December 2021.

How did you come up with your band name?

It was actually said as a joke and Jordan and I were the two doing this as a solo project and decided to make the band a thing.

Who influenced you within the music industry?

Nick Miller, every day of the week I will say it. He made me realise I had the potential of being a frontman despite the 13-year break I took from music.

Have you performed live much and what was your favourite gig to play at?

Back in 2009, I was performing a lot and most of the shows were amazing. This band has yet to play a show so it’s been pretty wild realising the last time I stood on a stage was 13 years ago with my own band.

What is the best thing about being in a band?

The overwhelming support we get from fans from all over the country is one of the most insane moments for sure.

What’s the biggest problem you’ve had to overcome so far as a musician(s)?

I won’t lie, the self-doubt was a big one for me. Now 31, I felt like I might be a little too old and out of touch with today’s music. I was terrified to get back into something I’d been away from for so long.

What plans have you got coming up this year?

I recently talked to a few bands and other friends of mine in the music industry to try and get some shows lined up for us to play. We also had a music video come out on April 13th on BVTV. Our debut record as a band is coming out in August.

What is your ultimate dream as a band?

To be touring around the world would be amazing. I have so many places I would love to play and have experiences with the boys.
