Music Interview: The Scared Crows

The Scared Crows

My first music interview of 2019 is with American rock trio The  Scared Crows:

Band Name: The Scared Crows
Members: Tyler Forrest (vocals/guitar), Adrian Hires (bass) & Andre Mohring (drums)
Genre: Rock
Founded: January 2018
Originated From: North Hollywood, CA USA
Discography: I Hope Your Phone Dies (single)

How would you describe your music?

Fresh. It’s hard to place a genre on our music because we take influence from everything. We have such unique voices as individual musicians, so when we come together, we make music that sounds totally original. Everything we do is honest and emotive. We don’t hide behind the modern tricks that most pop and rock artists are using. We like to keep it real. It allows us to really connect with the audience.

How did the band form?

The Scared Crows were formed from playing around NoHo. For awhile, I was bouncing around with my guitar hosting jams and living room music circles. We found each other in the most organic way through various jams. We weren’t seeking it out. We all connected so well musically that we had to keep it going.

Who influenced you within the music industry?

Growing up there were a couple bands that turned us on to the life style. Alkaline Trio, Cake & Rage Against The Machine. We loved their sound and their songs. Early on, those bands set the standard for songwriting for us.

Have you performed live much and what was your favourite gig to play at?

Performing live is our biggest passion. We love sharing what we do with an audience. We love making people dance and have a good time. We’ve had tons of favorite gigs. Sometimes it’s the small intimate ones that are the best. Like the Rainbow Room in Hollywood. Those are always slammin’.

What is the best thing about being in a band?

Everything. The freedom to make music and travel. The bond that you develop with your band mates. The fans that encourage you to keep going. The thrill of going out and taking pictures and creating visual art. It’s the best life and we couldn’t imagine it any other way.

What plans have you got coming up this year?

We are planning on releasing our debut full length album. Hopefully by summer. Aside from that, we’ll be playing as many shows as possible and just having fun while building our audience. We would love the opportunity to tour with a bigger act. We would learn so much from that.
