How would you describe your music?

We would describe it as an energetic alternative pop rock. Our favorite description given to us by fans is Rowdy-Acoustic-Pop! The songs are great for relaxed and rowdy settings. If we had to compare our sound to other bands it would be a healthy musical child formed from Grouplove, The Front Bottoms, The Head and The Heart, and Manchester Orchestra.

How did the band form?

Cinders really kind of just fell into place. A few of us had known each other since high school and others met later in life and due to a common love for lyrical angst. We have all had the dream of being in a band our whole lives. So it wasn’t difficult to get things going once we had met each other. We all come from different musical backgrounds which adds to the unique sound that we have. Cinders was born out of friendships and childhood dreams. While some kids wanted to be fire fighters, we wanted to beat the crap out of our instruments on stage while yelling how we are feeling into the faces of stoked fans!

Who influenced you within the music industry?

We have been influenced by many in the industry. From Chance The Rapperto David Geffen. Anyone who has a story to tell and who tells it there own way is someone who we respect. The music industry can be amazing. There are so many independent artists out there who have made a name for themselves through staying true to who they are and through hard work.

Have you performed live much and what was your favourite gig to play at?

We have played over a 100 shows in the few years we have been together and can’t wait for the next 100! Our favorite would probably be the 4th of July festival we headlined this year. There were 8 awesome bands and we played for over 25,000 people. The energy was insane and it was a night that we will never forget.

We were extremely close to the fireworks too which was really cool but also terrifying. sparks and ash were hitting us from the explosions above. It probably wasn’t that safe but it was awesome.

What is the best thing about being in a band/musician?

The fans are the best part of it! To meet so many new friends on the road is incredible. We are always blown away by how many people show up and by how loud they are singing our songs. It is a crazy thing to hear a room full of strangers sing lyrics that you have written. Music brings people together in a way that nothing else can. It is awesome to be a part of that and help bring people together, even if it is just for one night at a time.

What plans have you got coming up in the next year?

With the release of our new album Looking Forward to Looking Back, we are stoked to be back on the road! We are hitting up the West Coast and touring all Fall and Winter. 2019 will bring a whole lot more touring as well! So if we haven’t hit your city yet, shoot us a message and help us find a venue near you!
