Questions by Glen at Well Eye Never

Who or what inspired you to start blogging?

I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism in 2016 and during my time at university I had experiences creating websites. Then last November after spending a year of job hunting with very little success and not having any other commitments, I decided to create a blog. The aim for the blog is to share my experiences of living with cerebral palsy & being registered blind, raise awareness of disabilities, showing my love & passion for music and a portfolio of work to share to prospective employers in the future.

What are your hobbies and interests?

My favourite thing in the world is attending gigs and festivals. I love all things rock and alternative. I’ve attended many gigs including Foo Fighters, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Kasabian, Royal Blood plus many, many more. I’ve also been to Reading Festival three times, Glastonbury 2015 and V Festival 2016. Plus I’m scheduled to attend Victorious Festival in Portsmouth on Sunday 26th August.

I also like taking part in theatre groups. I’ve been involved in numerous theatre productions since the age of 10. Due to personal commitments I had to take a break from acting for the past 18 months but aiming to join a new theatre group this September.

In addition I enjoy spending quality time with friends, going to the cinema, watching TV, reading audiobooks and of course blogging.

Where would you most like to visit and why?

In 2012, I did a 4 day trip to New York with my parents and brother but would love to go back with a team of carers/friends and explore more. Plus continue onwards on a road trip to California.

What is your favourite band or singer and why?

Now this is the hardest question of all time. On my rock playlist alone I have over 2000 songs. Instead I’ll give you my top 10; Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Muse, Green Day, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys, Bastille & Queen (who I’ve all seen live except Queen).

Which celebrity would you most like to meet and talk to?

J.K Rowling! I’m a Harry Potter guru. I’ve read the books a trillion times and never ever get bored of them. She has been my inspiration to become a writer and would be my dream person to interview. The first, and most important, question I would ask her is “Why did you kill off Dobby?”

When you’re feeling down, what do you do to feel better?

Listen to loud music, watch Netflix and/or eat chocolate. Also have cuddles with my pets; Mickey the rabbit and Sasha the dog.

Which is your most popular or favourite blog post and why?

My most viewed blog post so far is My future with a catheter. I think this is because it is a personal piece that a lot of disabled people can relate and inspire to. My most liked blog post is Heat, Hazards and Hooting which was about my crazy journey to Wiltshire where my car broke down in 30 degree weather. I think this received a lot of likes due to the humorous spin I put on the story. Last weeks blog post, Is a masters degree worth pursuing? has gained the most comments so far from readers; sharing their thoughts on studying a masters degree.

What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?

For my final major project at university, I created a radio documentary looking at the attitudes towards disability. I was awarded a 1st for this project. Then a year later, I submitted it to the Mencap Journalism Awards and won second place.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I would like to be working in a media production or digital marketing role. Plus have 10,000+ followers on my blog.
10 What one piece of advice would you give to people who want to try blogging?
Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s not about the quantity of work but the quality of work. Be patient, take advice from other bloggers and have fun!
